Contrast Characters:

• Montag's job vs Winston's job: Montag works as a fireman and burns books for a living. This means he gets rid of knowledge and literature. Winston works in the Ministry of Truth where they re-write books to condense the knowledge and make the books shorter. This means Winston keeps knowledge going while Montag does the opposite and destroys it.
  
   
• Julia vs Clarisse: Julia works in the Ministry of Love. This means she has a job and works for a living. Clarisse is a teenager so she doesn't work at all. Julia works while Clarisse doesn't.
• Julia vs Clarisse: Winston meets up with Julia again. Montag never sees Clarisse again after her dissapearance.
  
• Montag's views vs Winston's views: Before Montag met Clarisse he supported the government and worked happily as a firefighter. After he met her his views were changed and he started disagreeing the government. Even before Winston met Julia he disliked the government. Clarisse changed Montag's views but Julia didn't change Winston's.
• Montag's outcome vs. Winston's outcome: Montag escapes the Hound and finds his own group of individuals that are against the government. Winston gets caught.
• Beatty vs. O'Brien: Beatty fails at changing Montag's mindset. O'Brien succeeds in changing Winston's views towards Big Brother.
