Contrast Plots

Contrast Plots:
  • Four ministries vs one government: In 1984 four different ministries regulate people and their instincts or anything that goes against the government but Fahrenheit 451 is only regulated but one government instead of four.
  • How the people in the books face their problems: In 1984 the government tries to change the people's views before they kill them. In other words they work at their problems before giving up. In Fahrenheit 451 they destroy their problems before even trying to solve them. For example burning the books right when they discover them and Montag telling Faber to burn everything he touched to get rid of his trail.
  • Time period: 1984 is set in a specific year while Fahrenheit 451 is set in the distant future and Bradbury doesn't specify a year.
